Dragon Ball Z Doujintime Machine

The Sisters of La Plata (Part II)

Many will have read in a previous blog entry, which in Argentina there are two cities whose design was inspired by the urban layout of the city of La Plata , and as I learned some things seemed better to publish in a new entry.

The capital city is " Totoras " in the province of Santa Fe was founded in 1875 ( 7 years before La Plata ) by Julian of Bustinza, and its design incorporated a large square central (Plaza Moreno), which to arrive two large diagonal from the corners of the map of the city (as diagonal diagonal 73 and 74). also has a forested area surrounding the city , similar to the ring that surrounds La Plata. Some say
Totoras was designed by engineer Benoit as a test of the current capital of Buenos Aires, but I doubt this is so because the idea of founding the city of La Plata emerged around 1880, or 5 years later the foundation of Totoras .

The other city
call ma "Fortin Olavarria ." Let's comment on it Burcaizea Teresa: The

town Fortin Olavarria, party Rivadavia (Province of Buenos Aires) with the original date November 17, 1901 also has a similar layout to the city of La Plata , but with an area of 100 hectares and now 1300 inhabitants.
According to the decree of 17 August 1900 on Settlement of tax reserves, and the March 16, 1901, it was decided to proceed with the survey and demarcation and division of reservations "Three Algarrobos" and "Fortin Olavarria "staff of the Department of Engineering, Geodesy Section of the deputy entrusted with the operation of it, Mr. Enrique De Madrid and employee surveyor John J. Bugni.
The area was divided into 96 fields. For the farm village was designated No. 77. Their division is performed as follows: the left five apples for public squares, 48 blocks of 100 meters per side, 16 triangular with an area of 3685 m² and 8 in a trapezoidal with 3046 m².
general and diagonal streets are 20 meters. wide, 50 meters. the two plants and 40 mts. the perimeter.

Stories cemetery of La Plata (Part II)

last month published the first part and today I leave the continuation of the history of the cemetery of La Plata, written by Olga B. flowers in their publication Anecdotes and myths involving dead ... and living . Thanks again to Yoti for the photo :-)

Back from the dead
In the first
decades of the century past, an employee warned that one of the vaults had a drawer on the floor. In an attempt to find out what happened, removed the lid and found the body, died the previous day, scratched, beaten and chip debris between the nail in the coffin. It was a replica of the worst nightmares of Edgar Allan Poe literary, a doctor confirmed that the man, who suffered from epilepsy, died of cardiac arrest, but after a few hours, his heart had returned to work, to return to stop in a desperate attempt to escape from his dreary confinement.

customs Rare
They say, for several years, a woman went to the cemetery with a radio playing increasingly Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata. One afternoon, one of the employees spoke with her and told her that turn on the device next to the grave, to hear his father, who was a fan of "Lobo." He also lit a cigarette, because when he played her love box smoked a lot.

observatory lost statues

The Paseo del Bosque is the Astronomical Observatory of La Plata , which began to be built in 1884 under the leadership of Francisco Beuf French astronomer who collaborated in the construction Ng in the design with architect Benoit.

Its construction was completed a few years
d fter, but strangely in the main building APARE never Cieron the six sculptures contained in the original project. Currently there are only empty niches can see the names of scientists who were to be honored: Johannes Kepler , Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei , Pierre Simon Laplace , François Arago and Urbain Le Verrier.

For many years nobody knew anything about these sculptures, and various legends arose there. One of them said that the statues had been shipwrecked along to ba rco that brought Europe, where windows were also transported to the Cathedral. The other claimed that the ship had run aground in Uruguay, where they were landed pa ra definitely stay there. Thanks to research recently s , was able to solve this enigma. We found documents indicating that Beuf had commissioned works by French sculptor Henri Allouard , who accepted the job and sent sketches of how they would be. But then the director of the observatory was killed and the new authorities will respond to Alloard not have the money to pay the sculptures, so they were never brought to La Plata .

After finding these documents along with the sketches submitted by Allou
ard, was created "Project Beuf "to find artists who could n perform the missing pieces in the building of the observatory. Consultations were many sculptors to make this work or whose proposals f hey were included among the projects that have the faculty Academic Council.

The mystery of the piano

This story is a publication that was made in the newspaper Today, over one of the stories he tells Ramón D. Tarruella in his book "Myths and legends La Plata "

The following legend took place, say, in the quiet town of La Plata City Bell. Among the birds chirping and the soft whine of the trees swaying in the wind, appeared in a strange family neighborhood that catches the attention of neighbors.

movie seemed out of a World War II. All four were very white and they looked like refugees from Eastern Europe. The woman with a black scarf on his head, the husband robust, front, carrying two large suitcases and two small children, frail and frightened, carrying small bags and taken from the iron hands of her mother.

The striking family settled in a modest house with private entrance and courtyard car in Boston Street, in an era where there were many vacant lots and Bell City had not yet at its best the opulence of the mansions and villas contemporaries.

"There were times when a Boston street between 1 and 4 was called 'the suburb'. Just two drops fell and the area became a mud, flooded corners and frequent power outages, "said Ramon Tarruella, who developed a local legend in his book Myths and Legends of La Plata, urban Brief histories.

After settling in "the suburbs", the presence of this remarkable family began to elicit comments on of the neighborhood residents. Some said they were Nazis who escaped from the war, some speculated that they were members of the nomadic gypsy nation, other, somewhat frightened, said they were members of a cult.

neighbors' comments were as plentiful as few movements of the family. As known, the father worked from dawn to dusk and rarely, if ever, was at home. The woman, always dressed in black rigorous old-fashioned clothes, took a hard look and behave hermit. Children, a boy and a girl, like two angels white with a fragile temper-style porcelain. By order of the mother never took to the streets, which triggered the intrigue of the neighborhood boys.

Every so often, between the curtains covering the front windows of the house, hover through the snowy face of the boy in the house. His eyes bulging, expression trembling and scary and occasionally looked at the boys while playing in the street. This striking watch

aroused the curiosity of the boys, who, because they look pale and trembling, he immediately thought he was possessed by the devil or been vampirized by an evil force.

One afternoon, while the boys were playing on the sidewalk, began to be heard in the distance the muffled sound of a piano. It was a wonderful melody, hypnotic, who managed to stop the football games that evening to go in search of the sound source.

As drawn by a magnet, the guys were moving up to the gate the strange house that housed the most unusual family in the neighborhood. They discovered that the performer of such increases was lovely chords and the girl's house that killed his hours of confinement playing incredible melodies full of expression and feeling.
No missing kid on the block that is not secretly in love with this little princess dreaming foreign release of sentenced confinement. On the odd

family said they were Nazis, members of a sect of evil or to aliens who were carrying out a secret mission citybelina. Rumors continued

increase, but one day, without anyone noticing, the family left the house. From the outside only looked a renault 12 without the four decks and heard the barking of a dog sign on the back of the house.

"Time passed and the house remained closed, the piano in silence, the car in the same place and the family still missing. We no longer were heard barking dog, "he said Tarruella.

The neighborhood kids decided to go to the back of the house to see if they had taken the dog. Moved forward slowly until a foul smell alerted of what had happened to that animal. When they reached the backyard they found the dog in a complete state of decomposition, wormy, and still tied to the chain could never come loose.

"They were just Nazis. Clearly, the Nazis hate the dogs, so he explains what they did to this poor pooch, "said a distraught old neighbor.
Since that day, the abandoned house became a meeting place everyday. Using the entire surface of the surrounding courtyard to play, but never entered the house.

One day, amidst a quiet afternoon when no one heard but the chirping of birds, the sound of a siren altered the gentleness of the area.

A crew of firefighters was present in "the suburbs" and went straight to the abandoned house that had been refuge from the strange family. Front housing were located from the neighborhood and saw flames consumed everything.

Some time later, the boys went back to the house. They went room by room and watched the fire had burned everything. But to get to a room, an unexpected blood froze the present: the grand piano, the same that she could get sweet phrasing, was in perfect condition. The fire had destroyed everything, ignored the instrument and left intact the memory of the melodies that played the girl and her strange and mysterious family.

How Do Mice Communicate With One Another

Draining Lake

Today I leave a small curiosity that I read about the Lake Forest: During 1964, the lake found there was completely emptied by court order, as they wanted a weapon with which a homicide had occurred. Eventually could not be found in the muddy bottom, which was visible only broken bottles and rusty cans.

How To Turn Off Kidde Smoke Detector

The Divine Archer

If there is a place in the city where they seem to gather as much myths and stories, this is the Plaza Moreno. I spoke of looting followed the foundation stone for the curse of the witch Toulouse, number 13, secret tunnels, the craters energy, hidden owl , orientation Municipality and statues that make "horns" of the cathedral . And now tell the story of another statue that many know: The Divine Archer.

This says an article in the newspaper El Día, dated December 10, 1970:
" The City acquired a sculptor
Troiano Troiani, which has been placed in Moreno Plaza on the corner of Rue 14 and 54. Entitled "The Archer" and is a valuable sculptural work that comes through the creativity of renowned artist. Adding to the acquisitions in the salons of painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing as a result of cultural broadcasting task faced by the municipality . "

What
not seem to have noticed then that is what most attracts the attention of passers-by that statue: The fact that this archer aims at the heart of the Cathedral .

Since there is no official explanation of the orientation of this sculpture can not really know why it was located in this form or who gave the
or orders, but over time many people have been developing their own theories:

Some believe it was placed there by the Masons who founded the city, and the fact that the goalkeeper points to the Cathedral is the way to show their differences with the Church, but this is false since the sculpture was made in 1924 and was placed there in 1970 (42 and 88 years after the founding of La Plata, respectively). However, some time after relocating there someone cut a bow of bronze, perhaps because they believe in this theory.

is also the opinion of Gualberto Reynal, who wonders whether his book is a "diabolical monument" and has made several requests to the municipality to change its location or orientation, without receiving response. Finally found

J. the view Sebastian, who states: " This statue is not set to happen here. If we start from the premise that the city of La Plata has a whole Masonic symbolism, all those who came back (the founders) to a certain time, have continued with the same symbolism. Some people are alive, which belongs to the Masons and is in government. The city of La Plata, apart from the Foundation Stone, you must have, or yes, a cornerstone. The goalkeeper, in the place where apparently would be the "cornerstone." I come looking for some time. Can be physical or symbolic. Manufacturers to use when work is completed. The principle is the cornerstone, the end is the cornerstone. The cornerstone is the stone that is thrown away, the builders can not use it for either side. Symbolized by a stone that has a square base and round top. Can not be used ever as the foundation, as the first stone, because otherwise everything would fall. Then used as the last stone, which may be real or symbolic. There are two types cornerstone: the one named, or shaped like a pyramid or diamond (diamond). The archer, bow and arrow, what do they mean?, We have symbolically Cupid our best intentions in love Cupid takes them through an arrow, which is for the person we love. The arrow, symbolically, and it clearly says René Guénon (The fundamental symbols of the sacred science), said to be the seventh Ray. Are the highest aspirations of human beings. Where they have to be targeted. And of course, following the path of the arrow of the archer, hits the dome of the Cathedral. And just the cornerstone, is often placed or south, or many times, since antiquity, has been placed right at the top of churches. This keeper is completely out of all places, does not have an exact layout, Not that is set as the four statues (stations) that are one on each side. Is removed, it is hidden . "

Walt Disney in the city of La Plata

In the neighborhood there Gonnet an area of 53 acres where the park known as the Children's Republic . It was created to teach children how is the functioning of the institutions of a democratic republics ca , mimicking on a smaller scale than normal in many of the buildings where institutions function, and Legislature, Palace of Justice, Government House, Palace of Culture, Chapel, Fire and Police Headquarters, Army, Customs, etc.

was ide
ed by architects Lima, Cuenca and Gallo, who were inspired by the tales of Andersen ( El Patito Feo "," The Little Mermaid "), the Grimm brothers (" White, "" Cinderella ") and legends told by Tennyson and Mallory to plan and build all the buildings of medieval styles, European and Islamic.

Construction began in 1949 and her wrinkled wo some 1,600 workers for two years, until the inauguration which was conducted by General Juan Domingo Peron on 26 November 1951. It is here where there was the myth that came to our days: is said that by that time reached the site of an artist Gonnet American named Walt Disney, who was famous at the time by drawing Mickey Mouse .

It is said that
Disney (who had visited the country in decades da 1940), was present at the inauguration of the Republic of Children and this place platense inspired him to build in California Disneyland Park , three years later. Some even claim that he met with President Perón, who thought this cultural change in an amusement park (which was not accepted by Peron and the idea was not to be had for the park).

The myth that Disney was inspired by the Children Republic creating Disneyland and was in La Plata in 1951, continued uneventfully until 2008. It was in December of that year which announced the possibility that the Disney company to collaborate on the restoration of the park in Gonnet. According to a note by the newspaper said Day, the mayor met with Earl Bruera Wayne (U.S. Ambassador to Argentina) and it was there that spoke of the existence of a video in which images can be visited by Walt Disney to La Plata , which is thought to include in the Republic of Children a place that bears witness to the visit of the artist.

Finally none of this could done, so Disney's visit to the city will remain one of the myths of La Plata.

Stories from the cemetery of La Plata (Part I)

Today I let a couple of the many stories of those working in the Cemetery of La Plata, and were not written by me but it did Olga B. Flores in its publication Anecdotes and myths involving dead ... and living . The photo was taken by Yoti .

we travel
One morning a
alarmed employees warned colleagues that he was sure he had seen a decomposing corpse lying on the door a niche. They went on an urgent basis to the scene and confirmed that someone had pulled a drawer body and dragged him several feet.
While at the cemetery trying to find an explanation, the bar across the street came a man with the stained shirt and a foul smell. His appearance attracted the attention of the few parishioners who occupied a table. With bulging eyes, the stranger asked for a phone, saying he had to call a charter to take his father to Italy. The bar owner chose to call the police, and this was revealed the mystery of the dead out of the drawer.

Siesta
One January afternoon, a few summers ago, after lunch and a few extra glasses, one of the gravediggers decided nap. The cool and comfortable place he found was a grave. His companions, seeing that he was sound asleep, covered it with wreaths of flowers (which abound in the cemetery). When he awoke, it had to remove the crown over to get up.
At the same time, two elderly women placed flowers on a grave nearby and began to see the man coming out of the grave. The gravedigger yawned, looked and said "good afternoon." The last thing you knew was that these two ladies came running and screaming through the front door.

Masonic symbols disappeared from the Legislature

For several decades, the La Plata that passed near the Legislature could look at the front on Avenue 7, about Masonic symbols that were in the front of the building until mid-1935 . Today I'm going to tell her story.

The symbol
more stressed in the front of the Legislature was that of a six-pointed star, known popularly as "Star of David ." It was placed there by the masons is were in charge of design and construction of the building: the architects Gustavo cough Hein, George Hagemann and Charles Nordman , q ho had the task of making the plans. Masons were also entrepreneurs and Olivari pleural , who were in charge of the construction (begun in 1883).

The star of six points consists of two equilateral triangles, and is a Masonic symbol called "Solomon's seal " or " sign of the macrocosm." It has its origins in the Middle Ages, and its best known use is the one that gave the Jews when incorporated in the construction of t emplo Jerusalem.

This hexagram meet the four key elements: fire,
guide, land and air . It expresses very well the principle of analogy and correspondence made in the Rosetta Stone, you can translate the upper triangle represents the legislators and the people below, so that the center of the hexagon is the union between these two worlds, the representation of people through their leaders gathered inside the compound.

The six-pointed star was not the only Masonic symbol which may be in the Legislature. There were also the three symbols from the front architrave but were widely used by the Masons of the Middle Ages who left a stamp on each ed own ificio they built. Like a painter who makes use of a monogram to identify their works, the Masons left these marks in cathedrals, churches, castles and other buildings erected since the twelfth century in Germany, France and England.

These geometric symbols were referring to the various Masonic lodges. In the case of the Legislature of the Province of Buenos Aires, three by the three architects who planned the building: Hein, Hagemann and Nordman. Now

you know what they mean and why they were there, and you may be wondering why they disappeared these symbols showing the Masonic history of La Plata. The truth is that in 1935 were removed but not to hide the city's Masonic connections, but because of the Act 4351 which provides a shield for the province of Buenos Aires and determines its placement in the frontispiece of the Legislative Building .

The Curse of the mummies

In an entry I posted it time, told the strange events that had occurred at the Museum of Natural Science by Aboriginal bodies were in the building platense forest. Now I will tell other stories too mysterious, having to do with the Egyptian mummies found there .

The first occurred in the 1920's. In those days there was a lot d and the curse of Tutankhamun (famous Egyptian mummy discovered in 1922), then museum director, Luis Maria Torres, given permission to open the sarcophagus and to study the aging of mummies but became ill and had to resign . The position was taken by Augustus C. Scala, who was a botanist but lso t inquired about the mummies; but unfortunately died some time after a heart . strangely ill also two people who had participated in the opening of the sarcophagus : Gaggero and John Coñoel, but worse was the fate of U.S. employee not cleaning the museum, who died shortly .

The city museum or , Roque Diaz, also tells other strange events that happened and that are attributed to some indigenous mummies from Chile: " The carefully we get to see the outfit. Employees are sticking to the laboratory and do not dare to enter. It was a superstition. Coincidentally at that time, a January 1, 1970, I went on vacation. Within a fortnight, I had a terrible car accident and left me for dead. In those days, another guy who worked in the Administration was on the bike and also had an accident and were not the only " .

strange things also occurred in the 1980's with Egyptian mummies, and again the Roque Díaz recounts: " 30 years ago came the famous Dr. Gonzalez Toledo, who brought a very modern tomograph the Argentine Sanitarium . By then I was young and fond of Egyptology. And he wanted to get scans the mummies. So we had to carry in coffins to the Sanatorium. Came an ambulance and a paramedic lowered the mummies, and the load. was Sunday. " That's how they came to " two large sarcophagi and one boy, who belonged to a child mummy " people began to crowd to see what happened " So I told the doctor: 'Do you want people to leave? I deal with. " And I started to tell people that there was a curse of the mummies and when we wanted to see, and there was nobody . " However, the so-called curse seemed to have affected Roque and orderly they carried the mummies to the basement, " The longer we enter these lifts to fit stretchers. I do not know who pulled the boy, instead of going down we started up with a very rare move and we were locked in a mezzanine. And listen to me shouting 'Roque, Roque .... " Can you imagine?, The mummy in the sarcophagus, the orderly and me in the elevator. The orderly was white as a sheet and I jokingly say, 'Mum started acting' . " Remained trapped in the elevator for almost two hours until rescued by the technicians, who solved the problem " had been blown fuse. Never This happened. Just spent a Sunday and just with the mummy. The person who pulled the pendant might suppose I was nervous and could have pressed the wrong button, but to stand in the mezzanine was weird "[...]" When we finished, we took her out for a corridor along which to draw deceased. We were going to the shelter when they passed two elderly ladies, who were surprised and asked what it was. And what am I going to tell them. How I explained what I was doing an Egyptian mummy in the Argentine Sanitarium. Then I said, 'You know what happens, it was his last wish ...' . "

The story behind the limes platenses

One of the many names by which known to La Plata, is "City lime trees, as these trees are abundant in the streets and in the flowering season fill the air with their perfume as characteristic. Without But few people know its curious history, which I have in this blog entry.

late nineteenth century was working on reforesting the squares and streets of the city, in imitation of the city of Berlin , where the lime trees umaban perf air. Because of that boat were sent dozens of these trees from Germany to the new capital of the province of Buenos Aires, on a trip that lasted more than a month.

Arriving in La Plata, l rees were in very bad condition, so it was thought that they would be unable to stand. However, it appeared in this story a man who was caring for the gardens of the National Association , who suggested that trees cover the land to recover and it was done.

trees placed between the National College and the Faculty of Engineering, and after spending several weeks underground, it was verified that in m ost had returned to sprout, so thanks Caramba this re, could be used to cover the many green areas of La Plata.

Another curiosity of our lime is that they are of a kind hybrid called "Tilia moltkei " successful in Germany by the naturalist Spaeth in 1880. it has no medicinal property of being , but its benefit is that pollen does not cause allergies free.

The myth of the statue in Plaza San Martín

Perhaps the busiest square in La Plata is the Plaza San Martín , and it is there emerged an urban myth that exists in the city for almost 100 years. This myth says that the person of the statue in the center of the square is not really José de San Martín , but it is Bernardo O'Higgins.

The square was formerly called "Plaza de la Primera Junta", but decided to change its name and the April 25, 1914 it opened under the name "Plaza San Martín ", premiering this day a monument to the liberator.

However, little
time the statue have been placed there, people began to comment that the face did not resemble that of San Martín, and created a whole story has been told until now . It says that there was an error boarding, q ue statue of St. Martin had to get to La Plata was sent to Chile, while the statue of O'Higgins had to reach to neighboring Chile, came to our city and placed in the Plaza San Martín .

This myth turned out to be false, as the statue in the plaza of La Plata is an identical copy of the one in the French city of Boulogne Sur Mer where San Martin lived his last days. This monument (opened nearly five years before that found in La Plata), was created by sculptor
French Allouard Emile Henry (1844-1929) who made the mold about 50 years after death San Martín, based on a daguerreotype liberator in his old age, as well as sketches and testimonies of the time; is why the statue in Plaza San Martín is not like the image that we all have it. This explains the sculptor Eduardo Plata Migo " legend is quite common, but the fact is that so far there is no known document that shows truthfully that it is in the square is General O'Higgins actually "[...]" the f sculpture of St. Martin igures have always been different, especially in equestrian forms. In general, it represents the standard horse, perhaps the fact that the statue La Plata is not the case gave rise to the myth unleashed. If you look or St. Martin? That is relative: we must bear in mind that the sculptors of the time were mostly foreigners who were given the job. And often, of course, did not know perfectly the face of whom were to represent. But no one can ensure that the plaza is not the Argentine liberator. "
